Reading this great article and beautiful photos, after spending a few days surf fishing with my brother on LBI. Great fishing, not so great catching - but it didn't matter. Spending time with he and our fishing buddies is worth the price of admission. I liked the way that you phrased the road trip into Montana. Each time I drive East through the Jersey Pinelands on Rt 72, I am transported back to my younger years, for fishing, beach, bars, parties, cheap motels and of course, girls. The island has since gentrified quite a bit in the last 50 years, but that vibe is still there, simmering below the surface, and in those cherished memories. I'll have to give Montana a try - Thank you, David.
Jeez, James’s photos are gorgeous. Inspired me to pick up a cheap Holga just to remember the fun of shooting medium format. Loved listening to you talk about this trip on the podcast, thanks for sharing some of the imagery.
