I love the World Cup. The ridiculous process that led to the tournament being played in December in Qatar has been covered by proper journalists in the FT, the Guardian and the New York Times. Now the games are on and we’re getting to the business end of the tournament.
Yesterday, I watched the Japan-Croatia match at Dr. Clark, the excellent Sapporo-inspired restaurant and bar in Chinatown. It was already full at kickoff at 10am, local time, and most people drank coffee but a few enjoyed, what else, Sapporo itself, so I took that route. I budgeted one beer per half, not taking stoppage time into my calculations.
