The Long Haul
Going the Distance
I just polished off an ice-cold long distance drive. I can officially confirm my limit is 14 hours a day—that gets me and the Volvo wagon from the Catskills, west across New York, briefly down through Pennsylvania, through all of Ohio, most of Indiana, cutting up through Illinois (avoiding devious Chicago traffic), up into Wisconsin where I sleep in a Holiday Inn Express (there are a surprising number of people swimming in the indoor pool in Janesville, WI at 9pm.) I go to my room, down a beer and pass out. The next morning is an easy four hours to my cabin.
