We’re all looking for a travel angles. Sometimes you want to visit a famous museum, crowds be damned, other times you want a lesser-known place to yourself. We’re all negotiating an equation that makes sense for us, balancing all the variables that make travel great and, at times, not so great.
More than ever, I’m looking for places that are not on the direct line. I think other people feel the same way too. Here are twelve favorites from all around America, in big cities and small. They’re by no means secret, some are local institutions, but I think they’re worth adding to your list.
