It can be hard to say goodbye. This is why we have stacks of unread books, rows of forgotten neckties and kitchen drawers we’re afraid to open. Let’s focus on your sartorial self. You stare into your closet and your gaze is met with a wall of clothes that haven’t been worn in years. You make excuses: I just need the right moment or I just need to trim down or I just to be invited to Wimbledon this year. There’s no shame in this, people come up with endless reasons to keep their collections intact, that’s our nature. Well the snow is finally gone here in New York, we’ve set our clocks forward, Spring training games have begun—it’s the perfect time for clear thinking and to shed the dead weight.

Here are some guidelines to ease this worthwhile process.
